The Pathology Department at IGGMC Nagpur is a premier diagnostic and
academic facility located on the 2nd Floor. It offers comprehensive
laboratory services and is led by

Diagnostic Services
The department is equipped to process routine and complex patient samples
across several key sub-specialties:
Histopathology:
- Tissue diagnostic services, special stains, and Immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining.
- New Ventana provides standardized, reproducible, and high-throughput
Immunohistochemistry staining, improving diagnostic accuracy in
Onco-pathology.
Cytology:
Diagnostic facilities like Exfoliative Cytology, FNAC
(Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology), Cell Blocks, and
Intra-operative Cytology Reporting (Crush Cytology) are available.
EziPrep is a cost-effective, alcohol-based Liquid-Based Cytology (LBC)
system primarily used for cervical cancer screening. It is designed to
maximize cellular yield, provide a clean slide background, and reduce
unsatisfactory smear rates compared to conventional Pap tests.

Intraoper ative Consultation (Frozen Sections):
Enables pathologists to rapidly freeze, section, and analyze tumour biopsies while a patient is still in surgery, guiding immediate surgical decisions.
Hematology:
Routine detail hemograms using XN-100 basic CBC detail along with Delivers in-depth insights into erythropoietic and thrombopoietic health by evaluating markers like Immature Reticulocyte Fraction (IRF), Reticulocyte Hemoglobin (RET-He), and Immature Platelet Fraction (IPF), bone marrow aspiration/biopsy, and anaemia workups using advanced Hb HPLC.
Clinical Pathology:
Coagulation Profile :Newly add analyzer(Sysmex-CA-6000) measure various clotting, chromogenic, and immunological parameters to diagnose, monitor, and assess the risk of bleeding or thrombotic disorders: Tests Include: Prothrombin Time (PT), Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (aPTT),Fibrinogen: Thrombin Time (TT), D-Dimer, Von Willebrand Factor (VWF).
Clinical Pathology:
Newly add Urine Analyser-Sysmex UC-3500 &UF-4000 provides automatically tests for parameters like blood, glucose, protein, pH, microalbumin, and creatinine. It can process up to 276 samples per hour. Uses fluorescent flow cytometry to evaluate and count urinary particles such as red blood cells, white blood cells, bacteria, and casts. It is primarily used to detect, differentiate, and rule out urinary tract infections (UTIs) in less than a minute.
