About the Department
The Department of Biochemistry, IGGMC Nagpur is committed to excellence
in patient care, medical education, research, and laboratory medicine.
The Department provides a wide range of routine and specialized biochemical
investigations through the Central Clinical Laboratory (CCL),
functioning 24 × 7.
The Department is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching,
biomedical research, continuing medical education, and the development of
advanced diagnostic services.

Molecular Oncology Laboratory
Establishment of a molecular laboratory for identification of
cancer-associated mutations and advancement of molecular diagnostics.
Screening for Inborn Errors of Metabolism
Development of facilities for early detection and screening of
inherited metabolic disorders.
Allergy Testing
Introduction of specialized allergy testing services to strengthen
diagnostic facilities.

the Department of Biochemistry in collaboration with the
Department of Pathology and Department of Microbiology, IGGMC, Nagpur
on 18th July 2026.

4. “Catalysis” – Biochemistry Quiz Competition
A quiz competition titled “Catalysis” was conducted on
2nd April 2026 by the MBBS student members of
Indian Medical Association – IMA MSN IGGMC in collaboration
with the Department of Biochemistry, IGGMC, Nagpur.
The quiz was based on the complete First MBBS Biochemistry syllabus
and was organized to assess and strengthen the biochemistry knowledge
acquired by students.
Awards, Achievements & Prizes
- Best Cover Page Competition Award for Annual Bulletin, Staff Research Society, IGGMC, Nagpur (Trophy).
- Best Poster Award on WHO Day, IGGMC (2015) – Theme: Diabetes Mellitus.
- Second Prize in Oral Paper Presentation at State Level Conference, IMA (21 September 2019).
