The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, IGGMCH, Nagpur provides comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological services, including antenatal, intranatal and postnatal care, high-risk pregnancy management, family planning, infertility services, preventive oncology, adolescent and menopausal healthcare, and emergency obstetric care.
The department offers universal antenatal haemoglobinopathy screening and prenatal diagnosis through chorionic villus sampling (CVS) and amniocentesis for at-risk pregnancies. Advanced minimally invasive gynaecological procedures, including laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries such as hysterectomy and myomectomy, are routinely performed alongside a wide range of open and vaginal surgeries.
The department is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, clinical research, and community outreach through regular antenatal and gynaecology health camps, promoting preventive healthcare and improving maternal and women’s health outcomes.

NIHFW, New Delhi in February 2025. - Dr. Alka Patankar was felicitated by the
National Alliance of Sickle Cell Organisation
on 16/08/2025 for her noteworthy work in the
prevention of sickle cell disease through
prenatal diagnosis. - The nursing staff of the Department of OBGY
successfully completed training in the
HICC (Hospital Infection Control Committee)
workshop.
