At Indira Gandhi Government Medical College & Hospital (IGGMCH / Mayo Hospital), Nagpur, hostel room allotments and student conduct are strictly governed by the Hostel Allotment Committee under the oversight of the Dean, Sub-Deans, and Wardens.
1. Hostel Allotment Policy & Process
Due to high demand and limited capacity, room allotment follows strict reservation and merit guidelines:
Allotment Priority Order
- Outstation & Non-Local Students: Priority is given to students whose primary residence is outside Nagpur city limits. Local Nagpur residents are generally not eligible unless exceptional seats remain vacant.
- Academic Merit & Category Quota: Seats are distributed based on NEET/CET merit ranks, adhering to Government of Maharashtra reservation norms (SC, ST, VJNT, OBC, EWS, PwD).
- Academic Year: First-year MBBS and PG resident doctors get designated blocks, with room upgrades occurring annually as seniors graduate.
Step-by-Step Application Workflow
- Application Submission: Submit the filled Hostel Allotment Form at the Hostel Section / Student Section upon completing official college admission.
-
Document Verification: Required documents include:
- Provisional College Admission Letter
- Caste & Category Certificates (if applicable)
- Permanent Address Proof (Aadhaar / Passport / Electricity bill)
- Anti-Ragging Undertaking (Signed by student and parent)
- Fee Payment & Possession: Pay the annual hostel fee (DD/SBI Collect) and deposit the receipt to the Warden to collect room keys.
2. Core Rules & Regulations
All hostellers must strictly abide by the institutional code of conduct:
In-Out Timings & Entry Logs
- Curfew Hours: Girls Hostel curfew is strictly enforced (typically 9:00 PM – 9:30 PM). Night entry requires prior written permission or emergency hospital posting proof.
- Biometric / Attendance Register: Residents must log their entries and exits at the security gate register.
Discipline & Anti-Ragging Policy (Zero Tolerance)
- Anti-Ragging Compliance: Ragging in any form is a punishable crime under the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act. Offenders face immediate expulsion, forfeiture of medical college admission, and police FIR registration.
- Substance Abuse Prohibited: Alcohol, smoking, and illicit substances are strictly banned within campus and hostel premises. Possession results in immediate suspension.
Visitors & Guest Guidelines
- Day Visitors: Allowed only in designated visitor rooms/recreation areas during morning and evening visiting hours.
- Overnight Guests: Male visitors are strictly prohibited inside the Girls Hostel. Overnight stays for parents/guardians require prior written approval from the Warden.
Property & Electrical Appliances
- High-power electrical appliances (heaters, heavy induction plates, personal AC units) are strictly prohibited inside regular rooms without prior administrative permission and extra electricity fee payment.
- Students are responsible for room furniture; damages incur penalties deducted from the caution deposit.
