About the Department
The Department of Community Medicine at Indira Gandhi Government Medical College (IGGMC), Nagpur, is committed to excellence in public health education, research, and community service. The department provides undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (MD Community Medicine) training under the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum. Through its Urban and Rural Health Training Centres, students gain practical experience in primary healthcare, disease prevention, epidemiological investigations, and implementation of National Health Programmes. The department actively conducts health camps, screening programmes, immunization activities, public health research, and community outreach initiatives. With a strong focus on evidence-based practice and preventive healthcare, it continues to develop competent medical professionals dedicated to improving the health of the community.

Conducted successfully from 17.09.25 to 02.10.25 under the guidance of
Dean Dr. Ravi Chavan and HOD Dr. Mohan Khamgaonkar,
with Nodal Officer Dr. Manjusha Dhoble and
Assistant Nodal Officer Dr. Nisha Agrawal.
A total of 53 inter-departmental community activities were executed across
Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, OBGY, Pathology, Ophthalmology, and Dental departments.
This included a mega collaborative field health camp at UHTC on 29.09.25
organized with the ICMR – Institute of One Health focusing on women’s health
empowerment, reproductive profiling, and therapeutic feeding counseling.

Regular collaborative evaluation field visits are independently organized by faculty to
enrich real-world exposure. These include:

Modern Infrastructure Shift
Successfully transitioned operations into the state-of-the-art
New Administration Building. The new department is layout-optimized with
spacious cabins, ventilated seminar rooms, and high-tech digital projection systems
designed transparently with direct administrative inputs from residents and faculty.
