2. Admission Process
- Entrance Exam: Admission to all government and private medical colleges across India (including AIIMS, JIPMER, and state colleges like GMC/IGGMC) is solely through NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test).
- Eligibility Criteria: Passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) and English with at least 50% aggregate (40% for reserved categories). Minimum age of 17 years.
- Seat Allotment: Done via Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) and State CET Cells for 85% State Quota.
3. Post-MBBS Career Paths
After completing MBBS and registering with the State Medical Council / NMC:
- Postgraduate Specialization (MD / MS / DNB): 3-year residency in specialized fields like Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Radiology, Pediatrics, or Obstetrics.
- Medical Officer (MO): Direct clinical practice in government primary health centers (PHCs) or private multi-specialty hospitals.
- Medical Research & Academics: Clinical trial research (ICMR) or teaching as an assistant lecturer in medical colleges.
- Civil Services & Healthcare Management: Public health administration (UPSC CMS, MPH, or Healthcare MBA/MHA).
